| Engi was the series
for the year for the anime club for 2001/2002, the year I was president.
So I guess that's how I ended up picking the character. It's rather
amusing actually. During the year, Erica said she would make me a costume.
As Anime North got closer, she had also agreed to make costumes for other
people. As it got even closer, Erica realized the folly of promising that
many costumes and I ended up having to take over mine. Which is why it's
not that impressive, and missing gloves and boot things.. Ah well, it's
still really cool and a girl glomped me.
Erica made the yellow bib thing and there's wire running through the edges so it lifts up and sticks out. She also made the yin-yang symbols, but I hand sewed some parts of it. Around here, I took over. The shoulder thing has a wire frame and the blue fabric was sewn on to it. The white trim is felt that was glue-gunned on, since time and lack of skill didn't allow for sewing it. The turtleneck was purchased at some store and Erica made the pants (note, I sewed the waist band, no one believes me because everyone was asleep at the time, but I did sew the waist band!). The thing on my head is just some white fabric wrapped around and pinned on. The script for our Anime North 2002 skit can be found here too. Costume and skit didn't win anything, but they were extremely fun regardless. |
